Drivers planning to use I-85 South through Gwinnett County on Sunday morning should prepare for significant delays as the Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) conducts a detailed crash scene reconstruction.

From 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19, the AIU will pace traffic and temporarily restrict access to I-85 South between Highway 316 and just south of the Jimmy Carter Boulevard exit. The operation is part of an investigation into a double fatality crash that occurred on Oct. 5, 2025.

To conduct a precise scene mapping, AIU will deploy several drones, which require the area to be free of moving vehicles. As a result,
