A longtime Sterling Heights city council member attributes depression over a previous election loss as the reason he failed to stay current on his campaign finance reports, a move that cost him several thousand dollars in fines and late fees.
Henry Yanez says he was unhappy with his dead-last finish in a five-way Democratic primary in the 10th District race for Congress in August 2022. Carl Marlinga topped the Democratic field and later lost to Republican John James in the 2022 general election.
