The Heart of Gold bike ride supports efforts in Nevada County to improve mental wellness and reduce the impact of anxiety, depression and trauma that can lead to unhealthy choices and suicide among young people.

Yesterday, 213 riders had registered for the 2025 Heart of Gold Gravel Race. With three course options ranging from 28.7 to 71.1 miles, participants launched from Pioneer Park in Nevada City with the long course featuring 10,408 ft elevation during the ride that took riders from Nevada City to Edwards Crossing via Rock Creek Road, Grizzly Hill to Graniteville then Gaston Road to the Little Town of Washington, Relief Hill Road to Lake City, North Columbia, North San Juan on Tyler Foote Crossing down to Purdon Crossing up Lake Vera on Rector and finally back to Pioneer Park.
