A sport utility vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 crashed into a tractor-trailer early Sunday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.

Jose Perez, 29, of Toledo, was driving a Chevrolet Equinox in the wrong direction when he hit Kewal Singh, 44, of Ontario, Canada, who was operating a Freightliner tractor-trailer combination.

The 2:46 a.m. crash just south of the Buck Road exit near milepost 198 seriously injured Perez and his two passengers, Walter Orellana, 34, and Ervin Ordonez, 22, both of Toledo. All three were transported to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, the Bowling Green post reported.

Mr. Orellana and Mr. Ordonez sustained critical injuries in the crash, the post said. Mr. Singh had non life-threatening injuries and was treated at
