ERIE, Mich. — A man was shot with a bow and arrow at a motel in Monroe County’s Bedford Township, Sheriff Troy Goodnough said in a news release Sunday.

The incident happened Saturday around 11:30 a.m. at the Bedford Inn Motel, 6444 S. Telegraph Rd., in Erie, Mich., he said. Deputies responded to a call about a man losing consciousness.

A 42-year-old man from Toledo, who was not identified by the sheriff’s office, was taken to a local hospital where he remained in critical condition Sunday.

The man had been shot with a crossbow by a person known to him who was also staying at the motel, the sheriff said. Investigators recovered the weapon. People related to the case have been identified by authorities, but their whereabouts are unknown.
