DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A family is without a home Sunday morning after it was destroyed by fire in DeKalb County, according to officials.
The fire took place on 4313 Ward Bluff Court in Ellenwood. Firefighters and homeowners told Atlanta News First it started just before 7 a.m., as people inside started to smell smoke.
According to the family and firefighters, they were able to get out while the fire alarms were going off. The family claimed the fire started in the back of the house.
Firefighters say the house is a “total loss.” The fire also melted the siding off their neighbor’s house.
No injuries have been reported at this time.
