A homecoming loss to Prairie View didn’t spark Roman Banks ’ impromptu appearance at the Southern postgame press conference.

The nine-year athletic director was inspired to speak with reporters Saturday night about coach Terrence Graves’ job security because Southern (1-6, 0-3) has continued to play poorly in each game.

“My job is to evaluate the process,” Banks said after Southern’s 24-3 loss to Prairie View. “Do Coach Graves stay another day? You don't make decisions after a ball game. You sit down and you talk about it.”

Before “serious talks” on the direction of the program progress on Monday, Graves answered reporters' questions after Southern remained one of the three teams without a conference win in the Southwestern Athletic Conference standings.
