The remains of two people were found in the Freetown State Forest, the local district attorney announced on Saturday.

At around 10 a.m. on Oct. 18, a hunter who was “deep in the Freetown State Forest” made a 911 call “that indicated the discovery of skeletal remains,” the office of Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said in a press release.

Police who responded were directed to a Honda Accord that was far into the forest off of an access road, the DA said.

“Upon inspection of the area, first responders located the skeletal remains of two adults in and around the area of the vehicle along with a suicide note,” Quinn’s office said.

The state medical examiner will conduct an autopsy on the remains, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing, the DA said.
