SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating after a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Lincoln County left two people dead.

The South Dakota Department of Public Safety said the crash happened around 6:20 a.m. on South Dakota Highway 11 near mile marker 47, about eight miles south of Canton.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 1992 Ford Ranger was traveling north at the same time as a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling south. The Jetta crossed into the northbound lane, colliding head-on with the Ranger.

Both vehicles were only occupied by their drivers, and both died due to their injuries.
