A large house in north Hamblen County was destroyed when fire broke out Sunday morning.
According to North Hamblen County Volunteer Fire Department Chief Tony Trent every occupant made it out of the home safely, but two of six dogs perished.
"(The residents) were at home and woke up to the smoke and got everybody out," Trent said. "They had six dogs, and two of them, they didn't get out."
The call came in at 8:47 a.m. and North was on the scene in nine minutes.
Being a structure fire, trucks from all four Hamblen County VFDs showed up on the scene to work the fire.
The house was large, but Trent said they had access to a fire hydrant in front of the home.
"We had to set a portable deck gun up around behind the house and (sprayed more water) out of the deck guns on the trucks," he sai
