LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A traffic stop in Lenoir County led to a woman being arrested on a drug charge.
On Friday, officials say Lenoir County Sheriff Jackie Rogers did a traffic stop on a vehicle driving over 70 mph in a 50 mph zone and operating recklessly on NC 11/55, south of Kinston.
The vehicle, occupied by two women, was pulled over, and officials say that during the investigation, a search of the vehicle was conducted.
Deputies say they found methamphetamine on the passenger side, where 40-year-old Melissa Taylor was seated.
Taylor was taken into custody and taken to the Lenoir County Detention Center. She has been charged with possession of methamphetamine and was given a $2,500 secured bond.
The driver of the vehicle, Stacey Mitchell, was cited for speeding and driving
