SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (WSMV) - An 18-year-old motorcyclist has died from injuries he sustained in a hit-and-run crash late Saturday night, according to Smokey Barn News.

SBN reports that 18-year-old Hector Santos Martinez was riding his motorcycle north on Main Street when a 2000 Nissan Xterra reportedly ran a stop sign at South Main Street and struck Martinez.

After the collision, both vehicles came to a stop on East 21st Street.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s preliminary report, the driver of the Nissan fled on foot. Police continue to search for the driver.

Martinez was taken to TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield, where he died.
