RAINBOW VALLEY, Ariz. — More than 200 people gathered in the rural West Valley community of Rainbow Valley to honor Vince Upton, the 42-year-old father, friend, and neighbor whose life was cut short when his truck was swept away in a flooded wash one week ago.

The candlelight vigil, held just south of Goodyear, illuminated the night with hundreds of flickering flames — each one representing the light Upton brought into the lives of those who knew him.

“He was just a shining light of hope and glory,” said his son, Jayden Upton, who remembered his father as a hero and role model. “The best dad to me and my two sisters.”
