AKRON, Ohio — The average price for a gallon of gas in Akron and Cleveland is now approaching $3 per gallon after GasBuddy reports an increase at the pump within the last week.

Drivers in Akron are now paying an average of $2.98 after prices jumped 25.7 cents per gallon, according to new data released by GasBuddy early Monday.

In Cleveland, GasBuddy reports that gas prices went up 15.4 cents. This brings the city’s new average to $2.95 per gallon. Despite the increase, Cleveland’s gas prices are 12 cents lower than a month ago and 2.8 cents cheaper than a year ago.
