UNIONTOWN, Ohio — Justin Landes, a Lake High School senior football player , was seriously injured Friday evening during a game against Hoover High School.

According to Lake Local Schools Athletic Director Brock Cline, the injury occurred in the third quarter of the game.

Landes was evaluated on-site by sports medicine staff from both schools before being transported by the Uniontown Fire Department to Akron Children’s Hospital for further care. Officials confirmed late Friday that Landes sustained a laceration to his right kidney.

On Saturday evening, Landes underwent surgery to address the kidney laceration and internal bleeding. During the procedure, surgeons discovered an additional kidney laceration that could not be repaired at that time. Landes remains hospitalized in stable c
