MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. — Seven people — including two jail nurses, a sergeant, two corporals and two correctional officers — are expected to appear in Monroe County court Monday morning to be arraigned on charges related to the death of 74-year-old Lester Isbill.
Isbill was arrested in Madisonville on Feb. 6 and taken to the Monroe County Justice Center. Jail records and video show he was placed in a restraint chair that evening, where he remained for more than nine hours. Isbill was found unresponsive just before 11:15 p.m. and later pronounced dead.
The group was indicted in early September on charges ranging from criminally negligent homicide to official misconduct and filing false reports.
WBIR reviewed video from inside Isbill’s jail cell that shows each of the people indicted. Per
