Woman accused of financially exploiting the elderly in Clear Lake

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa – A Hardin County woman has been arrested for allegedly cheating the elderly out of tens of thousands of dollars.

Brittney May Eide, 36 of Iowa Falls, is charged with financial exploitation of an older individual-1 st offense and two counts of unauthorized use of a credit card.

The criminal complaint says Eide “while standing in a position of trust or confidence with the victims, who are 90 years of age or older, did obtain control over and use an American Express card belonging to the victims.”

Law enforcement says Eide used the credit card 413 times, spending over $32,000. Investigators say the victims live in Clear Lake and the crimes occurred between January and June of 2025.

Eide is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $25,000 cash only bond.
