Jesús Montero , a former Yankees top prospect, died at 35 after a motorcycle accident in Venezuela earlier in October.

The news was reported on Sunday by multiple outlets, including Venezuela’s Líder en Deportes . The Yankees later confirmed it in a social media post .

Montero’s ex-wife, Taneth Gimenez, posted a series of photos of Montero and their children on social media.

“R.I.P. Jesus Montero,” she wrote. “I’ll keep the good memories tattooed on my soul.”

Montero, a former designated hitter, catcher and first baseman, had a five-year MLB career. He was signed by the Yankees in 2006 and quickly became regarded as one of the best prospects in the game.
