Jesús Montero, a former Yankees and Mariners catcher whose career was marred by drug suspensions, died Sunday at 35 from motorcycle crash injuries.

Montero had been hospitalized in critical condition after he crashed into a truck on his bike Oct. 4 in Venezuela.

Once called “the best player I’ve traded” by Yankees GM Brian Cashman, Montero hit .328 in 18 games during his 2011 debut before struggles overshadowed his talent.
