A man was pulled from underwater after he swam after his vessel on Sunday, according to the Daytona Beach Police Department.

Police said the incident happened in the area of the Orange Avenue Bridge at around 11:37 a.m.

The callers told officials they saw a man swimming after his vessel in the Intracoastal Waterway and eventually lost sight of him.

After an extensive multi-agency search effort, the man was located dead underwater, police said.

This investigation remains active.
