Multiple police cordons remain in place after a man was shot by police during a "scary" incident in Ollerton.

Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that armed officers were deployed to a "firearm related incident" at around 12.10am on Monday (October 20) .

A police firearm was discharged during the incident, just after 1am, and a 56-year-old man sustained a gunshot injury as a result.

The 56-year-old man was taken to hospital and he continues to receive treatment.

Police have arrested both the man and another 32-year-old man on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause violence.

The incident took place on Wellow Road and several police cordons remain in the area as of 3.30pm on Monday (October 20).
