A new Derby city centre dessert shop has been ordered to warn customers and delivery drivers to keep noise down following complaints from residents. Derby City Council has acted on concerns made at a licensing hearing following the opening of the new Cheat Daze store on Osmaston Road near The Spot.

One worried resident told councillors at a meeting held on October 14 that she feared her and others’ quality of life could be jeopardised by plans to extend the parlour’s opening hours to 3am Monday to Sunday.

The store opened on Friday, October 10 via the granting of a temporary license but the resident claimed the new store had already been “intrusive” since then, saying she could hear loud noises both inside and outside the building before and after the restaurant’s opening .
