A Met Office weather warning for heavy rain has been issued covering the vast majority of the East Midlands as some parts of the region are also set to be battered by strong winds.

The meteorological agency has issued the yellow weather warning of rain for Thursday (October 23) and it covers all of Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire.

The vast majority of Derbyshire is also covered by the rain warning, with only more western parts of Buxton and the town centre just outside of the warning area for now.

The rain warning is in place from the beginning of Thursday until 9pm.

A separate yellow weather warning for wind has also been issued, which covers the more eastern parts of the region.
