RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — A registered sex offender was arrested Friday for failing to notify deputies of a change in his address, authorities said.

Robert Lee Jenkins, 57, was located and taken into custody on Oct. 17, after a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office detective confirmed he was no longer at his registered address.

Jenkins allegedly violated sex offender registry guidelines by not informing the sheriff of his new residence. Charges were sought for felony failure to notify address change for a sex offender, and a magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for his arrest.

Jenkins was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, served the warrant, and issued a $100,000 secured bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 20, in Randolph County District Cou
