LINDALE, Texas — East Texas singer and songwriter Billie Jo Jones had plenty of reasons to smile Sunday night at Lindale's Texas Music City Grill and Smokehouse.

She was with family, including her grandparents who raised her. She got to perform a song off her new album, "Turquoise and Silver." And she got to see herself on the new CBS music competition show "The Road" for the first time.

Well, it's not technically the first time. She's already witnessed the first episode at a red carpet event in Nashville.

"The Road," which premiered on Sunday night, features 12 emerging artists competing as opening acts for four-time Grammy winner Keith Urban. Urban serves as an executive producer on the show along with country star Blake Shelton.
