LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - An 18-year-old man is facing serious charges after a weekend party erupted into violence.

Laredo police were called just after 11 p.m. Saturday to the La Bota Ranch office parking lot, where a man reported being struck with a firearm. Investigators say the assault began earlier that night at a party on Redwing Court.

The victim told officers he and several friends had been invited to the gathering, hosted by students from a rival high school. Minutes after arriving, he says several men wearing black vests, one in a ski mask, told them to leave.

Moments later, the victim said he was attacked, knocked to the ground, and hit in the head with the butt of a gun. He identified the suspect as 18-year-old Johnovan Garcia.
