Five fire departments responded to a fire that damaged the hemp processing facility in Winfred on Oct. 17.
Madison Fire Chief Randy Minnaert reported that there were no injuries. An issue with the machinery set fire to hemp that was being processed and transported inside. This caused fire to spread to bales outside the facility as well as inside. Harsh wind allowed the fire to spread, though it was kept on the facility's property. ×
