[LANSING, Iowa] — The old Black Hawk Bridge in Lansing is now closed. This closure is part of the ongoing project to construct a new bridge over the Mississippi River and is due to safety concerns related to the construction.
Approximately 2,200 vehicles travel daily between Iowa and Wisconsin using the bridge. With the bridge closure, demolition is set to begin.
Until the new bridge is ready, a free car ferry service will start operating next month. Transportation officials plan to have the new bridge open for traffic in 2027.
