ROSEBURG, Ore. - A natural gas line rupture on Southeast Pine Street prompted swift action by firefighters on Monday, according to the Roseburg Fire Department.

RFD officials said that firefighters responded at 8:04 a.m. on Oct. 20 to the scene after a significant gas leak was reported. Upon arrival, they found a damaged 4-inch gas line. Firefighters quickly established a command post, monitored air quality, and evacuated the nearby unemployment office. They also set up a safety corridor and managed traffic, rerouting vehicles away from the area.

Officials urge residents to avoid Pine Street and Mosher Street while Avista Utilities continues repairs. The streets are expected to reopen by mid-afternoon.
