BOONE, N.C. (WBTW) -- The Coastal Carolina football team earned an important Sun Belt victory over rival Appalachian State on Saturday, but CCU says some of its players' emotions "ran high" after the game.

The Chanticleers rallied from a 14-point second half deficit to defeat the Mountaineers 45-37. The victory moved Coastal Carolina to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the Sun Belt, good for second place in the Sun Belt East division, only behind James Madison (6-1, 4-0).

However, Coastal Carolina athletics released a statement on Monday, saying some of its players did not live up to the "expected sportsmanship standard."
