COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Midlands is in for a stretch of mostly dry and mild fall weather this week, with temperatures rising midweek before a potential cool-down and a chance for rain by late Sunday and into early next week.
This dry air has been brought in by high pressure situated to our northwest, and even though the winds have been light, upper-level dynamics are pulling in dry air from the Mid-Atlantic down through the Carolinas.
A broad area of warm air moving across the Southern Plains and Mississippi Valley will bring some changes to the Midlands as a front begins approaching from the Central Plains.
With clear skies and dry air in place, overnight temperatures are expected to dip to a cool mid 40s Tuesday morning.
