SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- How many waterways, creeks, ponds and streams have you encountered in our Hillcrest area?

Not to mention pools, fountains, faucets, hoses?

Without sources of water, obviously, there is no life as we know it.

If we have water, clean and potable water, in our midst -- we are fortunate.

The sounds of water, its beauty, and its refreshing qualities all run deeply for many of us, even inspiring us.

And we are not alone in this.

I remember my then-young son Andy, lecturing me about what birds need.

“They need food, water, shelter, and cover,” he said, reciting from a field guide.

He was no more than six at the time.
