CORTLAND Voters in Cortland will have to consider a police levy on the November 4 election ballot.
Cortland Police Chief David Morris spoke with 21 News on what the 1.5 mill levy would cover to maintain services and personel for the department which grants and other donations wont cover.
With fewer part-time officers and growing overtime costs, Morris told 21 News on Monday that funding is getting tighter.
"You know, the federal government has made cuts, but unfortunately the cuts come in forms of grant money. And even our JAG grant, which is a Justice Assistance Grant, that money still comes from the federal government. So, if the feds cut, then the state OCJS, they cut and then we get less," said Morris.
