Traveling is a shared experience bringing people closer together, and that’s no different for the University of Toledo football team.

The Rockets will go 4,174 miles this weekend for their game against Washington State, but a road trip is just as much about team bonding.

It all starts Friday.

“We practice, and it'd be a quick turnaround,” defensive tackle Martez Poynter said. “We shower here, bring all our stuff here, and then we go to the small airport where we check in, get our snacks, get on the plane, and fly out.”

Once the team arrives at the hotel Friday night, the routine is standard. Players get their key card, unpack, go to team meetings, eat dinner, and go to sleep.

Roommates are assigned based on position groups, players have the same roommates throughout the entire season
