Oxford Target Temporarily Closed After Small Fire
Oxford, Ala. — The Oxford Fire Department responded to a fire Monday afternoon at the Target store located at 400 Oxford Exchange Boulevard.
Oxford Fire Chief Gary Sparks said firefighters were dispatched around 12:18 p.m. after a Water Flow Alarm was reported. Before fire crews arrived, Calhoun County 911 upgraded the call to a structure fire.
According to Sparks, a cooler in the front of the store had caught fire, activating two sprinkler heads. The store’s sprinkler system was able to contain the flames until firefighters arrived, and the building was safely evacuated by employees.
No injuries were reported, and the fire was quickly brought under control. The store sustained minor fire and water damage.
Cleanup crews are now working
