JERSEY CITY, N.J. (PIX11) – A man was killed in Jersey City late Monday night after he pulled a gun on a police officer, according to Mayor Steve Fulop.
Officers noticed the man with a suspicious bulge in his clothing near Ege and Bergen avenues, Fulop wrote on X. Fulop said when officers walked toward the man, he took out a firearm and fired a shot.
One officer returned fire, shooting the man, according to Fulop. Fulop said the man died at a local hospital and they took his gun at the scene.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office will be taking over the investigation.
