NEW ALBANY, Ohio — Members of the New Albany City Council are exploring possible options for restrictions on electric bikes and scooters within city limits.
Earlier this month, council members introduced new language that expanded the definition of e-bikes and scooters to restrict their use. The new legislation classifies electric bikes and scooters as vehicles, allowing operators to receive traffic violations, just as they would if they were driving a car.
The language would also ban these electric bikes and scooters from sidewalks and shared-use paths across the city. However, council members want to expand that to other areas as well.
