LICKING COUNTY, Ohio — A large-scale solar project is being built on 550 acres of farmland between Pataskala and Etna in southwest Licking County.
The developer, RWE, said the Union Ridge Solar project will generate up to 225,000 megawatt-hours of electricity every year for the electric grid. To put that in perspective, one megawatt can light up about 1,000 homes.
The project along Watkins Road runs up to several existing housing developments. RWE has tried to mitigate disruption to residents to the best of its ability.
In the York Gate Estates Subdivision, a dirt berm has been put in to mask some of the construction.
