BEXLEY, Ohio — Authorities in Bexley are investigating the death of an 18-year-old man found in bushes near an apartment building Monday evening, marking the city’s first homicide case in several years.

Demetrese Norvette was discovered around 5 p.m. in the 500 block of North Cassady Avenue, just a short distance from the Bexley Police Department.

A local resident, who identified herself only as Trish, found the body while walking her dog, Gypsy.

“Yesterday I was walking my dog and she noticed something in the shrubbery,” Trish said. “We came around to take a look at it. It appeared to be a body, but I didn't know if it was one of the Halloween pranks.”

Trish said she later alerted a Bexley police officer, who began investigating.
