UTICA, Ohio — As central Ohio’s population boom stretches into Delaware, Knox and Licking counties, Del-Co Water is looking east for new water sources, and some Utica residents fear that could put their private wells at risk.

The utility, which serves nearly 60,000 customers, says its current supply can meet demand for about another decade. But with steady growth and major developments, like Intel’s planned chip manufacturing campus in Licking County, the search for additional water sources has become increasingly urgent.

“We are looking for source water. The entire region is growing in population. We need to find additional sources,” said Glenn Marzluf, general manager and CEO of Del-Co Water.
