Hit-and-run suspect at large in Tampa after woman fatally struck by 2 cars: police

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A woman died after a hit-and-run on Monday night, the Tampa Police Department announced.

On Monday, around 8 p.m., a woman in her mid-40s was hit by a vehicle traveling southbound on North 50th Street.

The vehicle is believed to be a gray SUV, which fled the scene and left the victim in the roadway, TPD said.

A second vehicle hit the victim and stayed on scene, calling 911, and cooperating with officers.

Detectives recovered key pieces of evidence at the scene and are working with businesses in the area to review any video footage, TPS said.

"We are committed to ensuring justice is served for the victim and her loved ones," the Tampa Police Department said in a release.
