A brave Midlothian woman completed a challenge she once thought was impossible after a stroke left her wheelchair bound.
Dorothy, who lives in Middleton near Gorebridge, was a passionate runner and completed the Inverness Half Marathon in March 2024 before her life suddenly changed dramatically.
Suffering from a brain haemorrhage, Dorothy had a stroke that left her completely dependent on others. After weeks in hospital, she returned home using a wheelchair, then progressed to a Zimmer frame, crutches, and eventually walking sticks.
She always hoped to run again and Midlothian Active Choices (MAC), Midlothian Council’s physical activity referral programme, helped Dorothy achieve her goal.
