A man who died over the weekend after he was shot in the Lower 9th Ward earlier this month was identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office Tuesday.
Earl Vincent, 44, was wounded in a shooting at the intersection of Lizardi and Marais streets at 12:02 p.m. on Oct. 9, according to the New Orleans Police Department. He was taken to an area hospital by New Orleans EMS, police said.
Vincent died from his gunshot wounds Sunday, police said.
Police said they were initially investigating the shooting as an aggravated battery case, but the coroner ruled Vincent's death a homicide.
The killing remained under investigation as of Tuesday.
