CLAY CENTER, Neb. (KSNB) - The man convicted of killing a Columbus woman and dumping her body in a Clay County field will be sentenced next month.

Court records show 36-year-old Anthony Mattison will be sentenced for charges in Adams and Clay County District Courts on Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. in Hastings.

A judge scheduled the sentencing after a mental evaluation hearing Tuesday.

Mattison, of Osceola, pleaded no contest in August, where he was convicted of second degree murder for the 2022 shooting death of 25-year-old Jasmine Garnett. Garnett’s remains were later found in a field near Harvard.

After the conviction Mattison’s attorney asked for an independent psychological evaluation. He was examined by a Lincoln Regional Center doctor.
