DENVER (KDVR) — The Wyoming State Capitol in Cheyenne was evacuated Tuesday morning due to what officials called an "ongoing incident."

The Wyoming Highway Patrol just before 11 a.m. Tuesday said in a Facebook post that the building was evacuated as the agency investigates the incident.

WHP did not say what the incident was, but local media outlet WyoFile reported legislative officials said the evacuation was due to a suspicious package being discovered.

WyoFile also reported Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon was in the building when the evacuation was ordered.

WHP asked people to avoid the area during the investigation.
