BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - A woman camping on an island in the Winooski River was rescued Tuesday morning after authorities say rising water levels overnight cut off her ability to return to shore.
Burlington Fire Department officials say they responded just after 10 a.m. to the area near Salmon Hole.
They say a rescue boat from Colchester Technical Rescue successfully transported the individual to shore without incident.
Officials say that even though the area has experienced drought conditions, rivers and streams can rise quickly, and that people should be prepared.
