CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The Cedar Falls City Council approved several changes to the city and its code recently.

One significant change involves the city's fireworks ordinance. The council passed the first consideration of modifications to align with new state laws. If finalized, the ordinance will permit fireworks on July 3 and 4, as well as December 31 and January 1. The city council retains the authority to add more dates if desired.

The council also took steps to amend the city code regarding the powers and duties of elected officials. This change aims to clarify the roles of the mayor and city administrator in accordance with state definitions.
