GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hall County Sheriff’s Office will have a new leader in just over two months as current Sheriff Rick Conrad prepares to retire.
Conrad appeared before the Hall County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, which voted to accept his retirement announcement.
He was elected into that position in 2018 and then again in 2022. Conrad said he is retiring because he feels he is at the stage of his life to focus on his family.
Sheriff Conrad gave a recommendation for Chief Deputy Josh Berlie to take over as sheriff. The board voted unanimously to approve the retirement and to appoint Berlie to fill the rest of Conrad’s term.
Conrad said Berlie was a big part of the reason he felt comfortable retiring.
