NEW ORLEANS —

An emergency New Orleans City Council meeting has been scheduled after the city's chief administrative officer alerted them to even more financial issues.

According to CAO Joe Threat, the city's cash-flow issues have reached a more severe level than originally anticipated. Advertisement

Threat told Budget Chair Joe Giarrusso and Council Vice President and Mayor-elect Helena Moreno that payroll may not be able to be met for the rest of the year.

Giarrusso and Moreno are calling for the administration to explain to the public and the full Council why this was just discovered and the reasons for the additional shortfall.

The meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Wednesday in the council chambers.

This comes after the state auditor revealed the city's deficit is closer to $16
