Planners are working on reimagining old schoolhouse, adding entryway monument
A couple key components in downtown Peoria are underway that city officials say will help reignite the area.
The Arts, Culture, and Library Services Department is spearheading the planning of reimagining the historic schoolhouse at 83rd Avenue and Madison Street, as well as a new entryway monument near Grand and Peoria avenues.
Marylou Stephens, the Arts, Culture & Library Services director, said downtown Peoria will be a place to facilitate and engage the community, as well as celebrate and support artistic expression.
“I really believe (downtown) can be the place where we honor our past, celebrate our present and create our future,” she said.
The planning builds on the recent progress of Caldwell County BB
